Under the direct supervision of the Community Representative, the Host/Hostess provides sales and administrative support and ensures coverage for Community Representative when they are away from the office. The Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting, qualifying, registering, answering questions regarding the product and community, demonstrating the models, encouraging the prospective homebuyer to select a lot, leaving a security deposit and setting an appointment with the Community Representative to write the contract.

Internal: All team members of Shea Homes Limited Partnership as well as team members of other independent members of the Shea family of companies.

External: All individuals with whom Host/Hostess comes into contact with outside of the internal customer.

All Host/Hostess are expected to maintain a program for their own professional development by creating, maintaining and executing their Professional Development Plan per Company and J.F. Shea Co., Inc. standards.

My job in this area will have been satisfactorily performed when I:

  • Arrive 15 (fifteen) minutes prior to opening time to disarm security system, fluff the pillows, collect garbage, check the light bulbs, and check for general “Show Homes” quality.
  • Onsite design studio paperwork management (if applicable) – assist buyers with the option selection process which includes, but is not limited to, inputting selections in SalesForce and Surfaces application.
  • Greet customers and assists them knowledgeably and professionally.
  • Follow up with customers’ concerns and questions in a timely manner.
  • Become proficient in the following applications: SalesForce, Roomored, DocuSign, Digital Sales Assistant (DSA), option selection tools, Zoom/Teams, and any other application necessary to perform your duties.
  • Initiate SheaU courses and the Foundations Sales Training Program as outlined by management.
  • Take copious notes for the community representative on all guest and buyer interactions. Input into Salesforce (if applicable). Provide assistance with the onsite Community Representative in all aspects of selling new homes and providing service from before sale through customer’s close of escrow.
  • Return phone calls promptly.
  • Work as a team member with the Sales, Design Studio, and Operations Teams providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Work with Superintendent to become knowledgeable about all aspects of the homebuilding process.
  • Train with Community Representatives to learn the various aspects of their role.
  • Assist with other projects as assigned.
  • Ensure models and surrounding areas are clean and orderly.
  • Report any construction issues in either the models, inventory homes, or in the community to operations.
  • Ensure all supplies are stocked (brochures, paper, water, toilet paper, etc.).
  • Lock models properly and set security system. Host/Hostess is not to leave premises until the security system is armed.
  • Make every effort to ensure guests to the construction site are safe and wearing hard hats, closed toe shoes, and safety vests.

High school diploma or equivalent; some college/business or professional training preferred. Position requires a current Arizona Real Estate License.

Four years customer service experience preferred. Mortgage and/or real estate experience helpful.

  • Must be able to work successfully in a team environment, have a strong customer service focus, and feel comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
  • Must have the ability to balance multiple priorities and assignments, be detail-oriented, and conscientious with a strong work ethic.
  • Exceptional organizational, verbal and written communication, presentation, negotiation, and people skills are required.
  • Computer literate in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relations with trades as well as internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize responsibilities in order to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to ensure each community has appropriate coverage and care for each customer’s needs.

Community Information Centers can be located in an air-conditioned garage or trailer. Host/Hostess will be required to visit competition or show homesites in a construction zone as needed.
